Backgroud Info

I might get some of this info wrong, but I will try:
December 2008/January 2009 Randy found out he had osteosarcoma cancer in his ankle.
April 2009 - Surgery to remove the cancer, and the effected bone in his leg - cadaver bone and metal parts put in.
September 2009 - last chemo
March 2010 - infection present in the leg area
September 2011 - lower left leg amputated
February 2012 - New prosthetic leg, few weeks later new cancer spots shown in his lungs at a regular checkup exam
March 2012 - Randy broke his other foot while hopping to the bathroom in the middle of the night
May 1, 2012 - surgery on both lungs and a spot on or near his aorta

The other thing, I am sure Randy would love to tell you about is the healthy eating diet he is doing.  Juicing, very specific all organic fruits and vegetables.  He says it makes him feel great.

Surgery

Randy will be having surgery on both lungs on Tuesday, May 1st.  This is a high risk surgery.  Please be praying for strength, comfort, and endurance.  The family needs your prayers as well.  Also, pray for the hands of the physicians that will perform the surgery.

No surgery

Randy had a doctors appointment last week. His infection is actually looking a little better, so they decided to hold off on the surgery at this point. He says he is doing great.

Leg and options

Randy has still been having problems with his leg and the infection. In July he will have to make the decision about surgery for reconstructing his leg or surgery to amputate his leg. His says he is leaning towards amputation because it will be best for recovery and his goals. With the help of prosthetics, he would be able to have more mobility. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
I had to steal this picture off of his facebook. Randy and his beautiful sister Rachel.

Doctors Appt today

Please pray for Randy and his family. Randy went to the doctor today to check on the infection in his leg. The infection looks better, but is not all the way healed. The doctor took him off IV antibiotics and gave him regular antibiotics. He will be on those for a few months. In June, Randy will go back to check the progress. IF the infection is NOT healed, they will have to weigh the options, both of which are major. Choice 1 would be to do surgery to remove the hardware and the cadaver bone in his leg that was put in after the cancer was removed. They would leave that out for some time to clear any infection, then do reconstructive surgery. Choice 2 would be to amputate the leg. He could get prosthetics, but this would be major as well.
So, the choice is clear - pray for healing with the antibiotics and not have to make that hard decision. I hear that Randy is still in good spirits and has a good attitude (He ROCKS of course). Keep on Rocking Randy!
